When Jamie Went to London… We Broke Up

Urinine

Honest, simple indie pop songs from the now defunct Park Ave (um, Jamie moved to London and they broke up). Their web page has an amusing story of how much they didn’t consider themselves a band (http://www.urinine.com/bands/parkave/history.html). Well, I’m very thankful to whoever was able to coax this non-band in the studio and get them to record nine sweet, endearing songs. Three girls and two boys (Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes and Clark Baechle of the Faint) play music with co-ed vocals, keyboard, two guitars, bass, drums, and sincere, open hearts. Not all the notes are perfect, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This is another case of kids getting together to start a band with rough ideas of what they’re doing and happening to stumble out some great pop songs in spite of themselves. These are some of the best bands. Very uncontrived and sincere and just plain good.
