Dave Brockie Experience

Diarrhea of a Madman

Metal Blade

From the twisted mind of GWAR bassist Dave Brockie comes this, his Diarrhea of a Madman debut. A weird, wild ride, the album’s jokey punk-metal self-consciously yucks it up on such topics as “You Want to Suck My Dick,” “Iranian Masturbator,” “Faggot On Fire,” “I Clean Up Real Good,” “Washing Yourself,” and again, “Masturbate,” initially looking like a rather entertaining and humorous listen, then sinking into a dull and one-dimensional mire after successive ones. Best part of it, perhaps, is the “Album’s Titles Not Used”: among them, I Believe in Bilbo Baggins, Fighting God From Day One, Stupider Than Jupiter, Mad at the Sun, and Gay Whaler. If you’ve ever wondered what Mr. Bungle covering the Joykiller would sound like, well, here you go. Oh, clever album title, too • take that, Ozzy!
