Vincent Gallo

When

Warp

Mellow and ambient background techno sounds from the indie movie man, Vincent Gallo. It’s like a part of a soundtrack, waiting for a film, but it’s nice to play when there’s too much silence. Some guitar and slightly held back vocals creep in on track five, singing like some stoned, flower carrying, long-haired romantic poet trying to impress a girl. The vocals carry through for a song or two, hitting on Chet Baker moments, and classic movie black and white sighs. It makes up for the lack of depth on the electronic side, but even though the songs are full of emotion and anguish and reality• there’s still something missing. This CD reminds me of the film Buffalo 66, and that’s not always a bad thing.
