Spherics

Tone Casualties

Before you listen to this CD, I strongly advise you to take your Prozac. Eliminate all the gloom from your spirit. Think happy thoughts. Whatever it takes, do it. ‘Cause Dutch master Michel Banabila takes you on a slow-motion ride through the dystopia of your nightmares. Burroughs, Dick, Gibson, and Delaney laugh ghoulishly through your thoughts as you cry for mercy. But that’s just something you won’t find in the ominous dark of Spherics.

“A Strong Sense of Urgency” is nothing but a smog-choked cityscape with haunting gong, Henry Ford horror assembly line clattering, and clipped beats. “Worm-Jazz” has the cyborg army goose-skipping across your cranium. Insects swarm around your head and (dark) angels call you home in, “Suma 3,” over your last throbbing heartbeats, while the blood slowly seeps into the ground. And “Science Freak” is a Luddite disaster with some poor sap being ground to a pulp in the gears of The Machine with haunting synths soon taking over the dread with their promising chords beckoning deliverance.

Pure electronic science fiction with future disaster at every turn, undertow melancholy drowning you, an overwhelming experience that can swallow you whole. Proceed with caution.
