Jett Brando

Jagged Junktion

Go-Kart

On this EP’s opening track “Heavy Rotation,” Jett Brando come off as a demented Jon Spencer fronting the Cramps, playing some kinky, gonzoid rawkabilly. It’s a good if rather surprising kick-off track from this noisy sadcore outfit. Yet, “Be So Kind” is a more indicative of how they sound on most days, a band that’s finally found a way to put the post-rock groove to good use. It’s a halting track that burrs and whispers with the best of ‘em, and is absolutely brilliant.

“Until You Fall” presents great noir-ish, reverb-drenched weirdo-pop, while “Wayside Blues” is a stunningly drifting track that displays the band’s diverse and curious approach to music. Jagged Junktion is a bold, yet logical, move from 2000’s The Movement Toward You, with Jett Brando proving they’re still a name to keep your keen eyes on.
