Jinn

Superfi Records, Right To Refuse Records

Take any stock heavy metal band, wrap it in rolls of asbestos insulation, and then glue it to together with your leftover methadone and the dish of stale turkey gravy from last Thanksgiving. Play it loudly during your New Year’s Eve hangover, and you’ll get this belligerent yet unlistenable lint-wad of noise. Two separate labels are listed on the cover, that’s either a Mexican standoff or a suicide pact. Titles are uncreative – “Damaged”, “Negative God”, “Global Warming”. Even the Monty Python referenced “Vikings Bloody Vikings” doesn’t help this disc. Vocals involve a guttural roar from Peter Falkous as he attempts to drown out the furious cat fight of stringed instruments while an irate neighbor pounds on the drums, encouraging them to tone down or tune up. No magic wishes here – I recommend keeping these Jinn in their jewel-case.
