Crises

The Hollowing

Metal Blade

Serious, ugly doom/death metal. Besides being a tribute to Type O Negative… Crises thunders out painful screams at all life has to offer, as if the best one could hope for is to get it over with sooner. Check this out, from “Kingdom’s End”: I’m bleeding this time/ for no reason at all./ I just misses the feeling of losing it all/ So used to it… “ The Hollowing is loaded with grim tales of sorrow and disgust. It would seem that frontlady Karyn Crises sees the world as a festering pile of shit.

“Discipline of Degradation,” “Sleeping the Wicked,” and “Fires of Sorrow” all tell of generally having no hope in this lost world. Just take a look in the street, tell me is isn’t a breeding ground for more hatred, etc. None of these songs is one bit happy! There are some interesting instrumentals, too, “After the Flood” and “Come To Light.” I recommend Crises, who recently appeared with GWAR and the Misfits, to anyone who remembered the doom metal explosion in the early 1990s.
