Zen Guerrilla

Positronic Raygun

Alternative Tentacles

Man, talk about a no-holds-barred guitar onslaught! Zen Guerrilla are at once the MC5 and then James Brown. Positronic Raygun is an album of real, musclebound power guitar music that the world can only acknowledge as “this is the real thing.” Some bands need props, some use the props to add to the music during live performance. Some bands simply take the stage, play, and then get a few beers. Zen Guerrilla could play in the nude and stun the audience with their music more than GWAR could with all the blood. Their songs, like “Saucerships to Ragtime” and “Trouble Shake” are super heavy psychedelic blues, like the above-mentioned MC5 coupled with Cream. On “Healing In The Water” and “2000 Watts Over The South Side,” they put the fuzz power peddle to the metal and jam out, almost as if the instruments are nearly out of control. Then on “Roachman,” it’s all old time acoustic blues. Either these guys are fugitives from a chain gain who’ve focused all their rage through their music, or they’re not human. They’re uncontrollable. Who are these guys? Wow! Alternative Tentacles, P.O. Box 419092, San Francisco, CA 94141
