Slicker reminds me of Aphex Twin heavily. There is definitely an original style here, so the comparison is probably horrible, but it stems from the strange and unique method of using sounds not typical to beats and melodies. I’m not sure if this release was pressed to vinyl, but if it wasn’t, some heads should roll. Those of you familiar with the illbient movement in New York City could use this release on vinyl for the ability to hack, slash, effect, and melt the beats into heavy ambiance. It’s not for everyone, for certain, but if Aphex Twin makes you go, “Cooooool!” then try it on for a few. Hefty Records, P.O. Box 597844, Chicago, IL 60659-7844; http://www.heftyrecords.com
