Dark Funeral

Vobiscum Satanas

Metal Blade/House of Fashion/No Kicks

Starring: Lord Ahriman, Emperor Magus Caligula, Typhos and Allazmon. In make-up! Swedish death metal’s answer to Kiss! Sure. Like their previous albums, Vobiscum Satanas is filled with demonic evil riffs and death metal takes on classical symphonies. Magus Caligula’s vocals on songs like “Enriched By Evil” and “The Black Winged Horde” are like those of some pissed-off and very hungry troll. A troll who’s lost a lot of weight and is all gaunt and malnourished because some dark force prevents him form eating little children, yeah, that’s it! All they’re singing about is “Satan this” and “Satan that.” There! I just heard it again! I guess it never gets old… I think that the screaming style of the vocals, mixed with the evil chords and otherworldly moans in the background make this one a real winner for those who need ever more death metal. The title track might be sung in Latin, so be careful where you play this, you might end up with a companion you didn’t count on.
