The Know How

This Won’t Hurt A Bit

Self-Released

This dozen-song CD from Gainesville octet the Know How mixes ska with a bit of swing. Lots of sing-along choruses and Farfisa-sounding organ. Nice reference to a Bach Toccata and Fugue to open “Don’t Talk to Me” and a cool mellow horn intro to “Wait.”

Only minor complaint is the singer’s occasional spoken word/raps that pop up in “Don’t Know Why” and “Drunken Rudies.” While these are not those “yo boy-ee,” over the top, obnoxious-style raps, the songs would still be better without them.

A good first effort, with fine unobtrusive production by Rob M. at Goldentone, throughout.
