Marah

Kids In Philly

E-Squared/Artemis Records

Surrender yourself to Marah (ma-RAH). It’s really the only way to fully appreciate this release. It’s definitely not a casual listen. These guys are pretty intense – almost to the point of being downright agitating at times. It’s like a more gritty, more urban E-Street band type groove – except that in Bruce Springsteen’s Jersey environment, they were probably drinking beer or cheap wine on the corner, whereas thirty years later, some of Marah’s Philly neighbors were probably smoking crack. At least that’s the feeling I get. This is a good release though. Powerful stuff.
