The Solution to Help Heal the Bay

Various Artists

Mojo

This compilation was put together by the Heal the Bay foundation as a fundraiser for the bay. It features some good ska, punk, and indie bands and has a great variety of music. The comp opens with a funny live version of Blink 182’s “Dammit.” Other songs from more well known bands on this 2-CD set are Less Than Jake’s “History of a Boring Town” and Reel Big Fish’s cover of “Kiss Me Deadly.” MxPx is represented with “Let It Happen,” and I’ve had the Goldfinger song, “The End of the Day,” going through my head for days.

The stuff from lesser-known bands is interesting, as well. I especially like the weird trippy vibe of “Indra,” from Thievery Corporation. “Thursday” from the Killingtons is another good tune. The only song I really couldn’t stand is “Cadillac,” by Lit.

I’ve never been to California, but this comp put me in a California mood. It’s great to see different types of bands that are supporting one cause. I like the little cartoons on the cover and on the CDs, too. This is for people who enjoy fun, beach-style music.
