The Moonshine Over America Tour is the longest running national electronic music tour in the United States. Every year, Moonshine’s DJs and producers take a month out of their already busy schedules to embark on different legs of the tour. This compilation, mixed by the very underappreciated Dave Aude, is composed of tracks from the artists who joined the tour this year.
This is an eclectic CD, covering almost as many genres as the Moonshine label does. From start to finish, this disc jumps from breakbeat (Cirrus’ “Ghetto Blaster”), to hard and funky house music (DJ Dan’s remix of Cirrus’ “Stop and Panic,” the Rhythm Masters’ remix of Carl Cox’s “Dr. Funk.”, Top Kats “Feel Cool,” and DJ Dan’s “That Zipper Track) to progressive trance (D:Fuses’ remix of Micro’s “Sound Barrier,” Keoki’s “Pass It On,” Deepsky’s remix of “Ravers Damnation” by Omar Santana) and even a bit of drum n’ bass (AK1200’s remix of “Drowning” by the Cleveland Lounge, which just doesn’t hold a candle to the original version).
While not being a pinnacle of electronic music, the Moonshine Over America compilations never disappoint, and always contain good, danceable electronic music that truly represent what’s happening musically in dark warehouses and sweaty clubs all over America.
