Dorian Gray

The Sounds of Dorian Gray

Zip

To compare Dorian Gray to Oasis would be stating the obvious. So… I guess I’ll state the obvious, but I wouldn’t say they’re a knock-off band, by any means. Vocalist Torben Freytag can border on the melodramatic, similar to Brett Anderson of (the London) Suede, who in turn carried the drama torch of Morrissey. Musical lineage aside, the five-piece hailing from Sweden has released a collection of buzz-saw guitar songs centered around strong melodic hooks. The production duties were handled by David Myhr and Anders Hellgren of fellow Swedish band the Merrymakers. While Dorian Gray’s songs aren’t quite in their class, Brit-pop fans won’t be disappointed.
