Down By Law/Pseudo Heroes

Split

Theologian

Five cuts by each band. Pseudo Heroes is Down By Law’s lead guitarist Sam Williams’ band. Pseudo Heroes’ cuts are the reason to buy this CD, and sound vaguely like older DBL with a different singer. The DBL songs are all live covers culled from a recent Eurotour, and are only for DBL completists. Of the covers, at least four of the five make sense – the Who, AC/DC, the Clash, and Cheap Trick, although Williams is given the unenviable task of lead vocals on the last of those. But what Smalley and company were thinking playing “Sweet Home Alabama” to a French crowd is well beyond me, and an unwelcome addition here.
