I am weeping as I type this. Why? Well, you would too, if you happened to be a religious watcher of Donny And Marie back when television didn’t suck. I sit here writing about Donny Osmond, a man I admire. Yes, I admire Donny Osmond. I admire him because I respect his love of show business and because I hope one day he’ll cover several Motörhead songs.
This is the Moment is a collection of Broadway show tunes from recent/currently running musicals or revival and one movie. The movie, first: he sings “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story. He’s joined by Rosie O’Donnell on that one, and frankly, I think she’s a• There’s a number from Elton John and Time Rice’s Aida, a couple from Seussical (the musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss), one from Sweeny Todd (a duet with Vanessa Williams, no less – her, I’d give the time of day to, not Rosie), one from Riverdance (interesting) and – and I’m giving it away• “Luck Be a Lady” from Guys And Dolls is up to my dad’s standards (my father, I have no idea why, cares almost as much about Guys And Dolls as he does about baseball) and Donny re-visits his successful run as Little Johnny Jones with “Give My Regards to Broadway.” Bravo for doing it your way, dude.
