Sounds Eclectic

Eclectic ain’t the half of it. This collection of live performances from Santa Monica, CA radio station KCRW shares little but a spirit of musical passion. Sure, I could note that the album starts with Yo-Yo Ma’s opening “Prelude: Bach Cello Suite # In G-Major” and ends with Ryuchi Sakamoto’s “Energy Flow,” but that wouldn’t even come close to touching on all the disparate points in between. Tracks from Beck, Neil Finn, the Dandy Warhols, Willie Nelson, Badly Drawn Boy and Patti Smith (and more) all coexist gracefully; while the anthology never quite gets raucous, the contrast between styles will definitely hold and shake your attention.
