Dewey Defeats Truman

The Road to Nowhere EP

Has Anyone Ever Told You?

Although compared to emo acts such as The Promise Ring and The Get Up Kids, the band that I find Dewey Defeats Truman to be strikingly similar to is the long lamented Karl Hendricks Trio. While Dewey Defeats Truman has the passion and power that bear a similarity to the aforementioned emo acts, the prowess and delivery they display has a darker and tougher edge than many of their peers. This six song EP provides a rousing testament that demonstrates why the emo label may no longer suffice to describe artists such as this.

Set in the year 2700 in the imaginary city of Asche, Flaming Ears is a daring micro-budget sci-fi film from 1991 that envisioned a dystopian urban landscape that now seems eerily familiar. Lily and Generoso share their thoughts on the film’s new 4K restoration.
