Crybaby

No Means Yes

Two Sheds

According to the libretto, Atlanta-based Crybaby recorded their five-song EP No Means Yes for “$0.” The EP’s unrefined feel could certainly be a result of this. Kelly Sirmans’ wailing vocals go from entreating to grating from one moment to the next. Whether this is intentional or due to a lack of Sirmans’ polish is unclear. There also seems to be no bass (or it’s buried in the mix), leaving the tracks meandering along without something to anchor them. Also included is my pet peeve – a “hidden track,” this one simply a mess of noise that has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the CD, leaving one to wonder why it was even included.
