Brazil comes across like a poppier At the Drive-In on this six-track EP, operating in a landscape usually occupied by acts like Elliott and Juno. Some people have proclaimed the death of emo, which may or may not be a good thing, but there’s no stopping Brazil, and you’ve got to respect that. Showing a willingness to branch out and to expand the oh-so sharply defined emo sound, Brazil may be on to something on here, but seem unable to bring along the edges and sharp focus that this music demands. All too often, the songs simply blur and dwindle away, and Brazil continually fail to impress on this release.
