Andy Hughes

Progressive House Elements

Neurodisc

Well, there’s really not much to recommend here. As the title informs you, this is a progressive house mix CD (thankfully, just a single CD). And it is progressive with the obligatory tech touches. A former NASA electrical engineer, Andy Hughes mixes quite deftly. It’s a mindless, continuous, mind-numbing extravaganza perfect for the dance floor lemming. It’s just that for the rest of us mammals, there’s not much to attract here (except for the quirky funk of Interflow’s “Storyreel”). The beat just goes on and on and on and on and on. Heads nod because they have to, but very rarely do they perk up with interest. A pure automaton dance party. Rock on, drones. Rock on.
