Smile and the World Smiles With You

Temporary Residence

Here’s one for the days of summer. “Frone Taj” opens Smile and the World Smiles With You with swinging guitars and a mad dash of drums, like kids rushing out the school doors on the last day of classes. It’s such an optimistic, ecstatic sounding track that it alone would make the album worth owning, but the aural warmth continues on. Humid swells on the nocturnal “Open Ended” and the dew soaked melodies and distant electronic washes on “One Most Memorable” provide ideal sounds for rural stargazing, drifting in and out of consciousness.

“And the World Smiles With You” has some great call-and-respond shifts between the two guitars. The quiet chime/counter-chime that begins the track soon blooms into a full fledged pulsing heart bursting with emotion. You can literally hear the happiness ringing in every note struck. This is music to fall in love with and fall in love to. Hurry up and get it before summer’s gone.
