Sharon dismisses Bush warning

By GAVIN RABINOWITZ

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) – Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon brushed off a warning from President Bush not to allow further West Bank settlement growth, indicating Israel would continue to solidify its hold on areas it considers of strategic importance.

,,,At the ranch, Bush told Sharon that any further building on the settlements would be in violation of the internationally backed “road map” peace plan, which both the Israelis and the Palestinians have formally accepted, but which has been long dormant with both sides failing to carry out their initial obligations.</i>

“Bush warned” Israel? Ha! First, this is purely a media charade. Bush pretends to say something, Sharon pretends to hear it and then ignore it. I imagine the truth of the situation is far different.

And secondly, WTF business is it of Bush’s what Israel does? Its bad enough that they receive the largest amount of US military aid- our money. Do we have to continue to meddle where we have no interest?
