Truth to Power

Pentagon: Ok, we burned peoples flesh off. But it wasn’t illegal

US used white phosphorus in Iraq

Falluja suffered great damage during the offensive

US troops used white phosphorus as a weapon in last year’s offensive in the Iraqi city of Falluja, the US has said.

“It was used as an incendiary weapon against enemy combatants,” spokesman Lt Col Barry Venable told the BBC – though not against civilians, he said.

The US had earlier said the substance – which can cause burning of the flesh – had been used only for illumination.

…And he said it had been used in Falluja, but it was a “conventional munition”, not a chemical weapon.

It is not “outlawed or illegal”, Col Venable said. </i>

When you spend as much on defense as the rest of the world combined, it buys you the luxury of never having to explain yourself. So we don’t really give a rats ass what the world thinks of us, hence we can say it wasn’t illegal because we didn’t use it against civilians, which is of course a lie. Remember, in the siege of Falluja, one of first things we did was level the main hospital- to keep doctors from talking about civilian deaths.

What this does do is further decrease Bush and the rest of the warmonkeys standing in the eyes of his own country, who are increasingly (and frankly, finally) seeing him for the incompentent and untrustworthy ghoul that he is.

Scary thought is, we presumedly have 3 more years of this clown.
