Dandi Wind

Bait the Traps

Bongo Beat

Mutant disco is alive and well in Vancouver, British Columbia. The duo called Dandi Wind combine low-fi electronic beats with no wave vocal stylings on their debut EP, Bait the Traps. Dandi Wind sound like they are channeling the spirits of Lene Lovich, Nina Hagen and Ari Up, then projecting these eclectic vocal stylings into a backwoods rave. It’s an avant garde art project to which you can dance. I find the music only mildly entertaining, but the band considers themselves more of a performance project. After looking at the photos on their website, I’m sure we’re missing an important component of the Dandi Wind experience when robbed of the visuals. I wonder if Dandi Wind is heading to Florida any time soon?
