Truth to Power

When, exactly, will this “GWOT” start?

AP Probe: ‘Dangerous’ Former Gitmo Inmates Set Free Abroad

WASHINGTON The Pentagon called them “among the most dangerous, best-trained, vicious killers on the face of the Earth,” sweeping them up after Sept. 11 and hauling them in chains to a U.S. military prison in southeastern Cuba.

Since then, hundreds of the men have been transferred from Guantanamo Bay to other countries, many of them for “continued detention.”

And then set free.

…Once the detainees arrived in other countries, 205 of the 245 were either freed without being charged or were cleared of charges related to their detention at Guantanamo. Forty either stand charged with crimes or continue to be detained.</i>

Uh, ‘cuse me. As a taxpayer- and more importantly, a human being- when are you actually planning on starting this “Global War on Terror” you keep crowing about, King George? Let’s review:

Everything changed on 9-11”- yet NO ONE accused in the attacks has ever been tried in a court of law and found guilty.

We’re fighting them there so we don’t have to fight them here”- Actually, we’re fighting people not connected at all to the “GWOT” because we can, not because they threatened us, or were in any way connected with 9-11.

“I think they’re in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency.” Over a thousand US troops, and countless thousands of Iraqis have died since that bile dribbled out of the craw of Cheney.

So, once again- when ya gonna actually fight this “war”, you soulless ghouls? Or better yet, when are you gonna admit that you fucked up, and leave? Because either you set the timetable for exit- from both Iraq and the US government- or somebody else is going to do it for you.
