Republican senator slams Iraqi government

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The top-ranking Republican in the U.S. Senate on Sunday expressed frustration with the Iraqi government, saying Republicans were “overwhelmingly disappointed” with the lack of political progress.

“The Iraqi government is a huge disappointment,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told CNN’S Late Edition on Sunday.

“So far, they’ve not been able do anything they promised on the political side,” the Kentucky Republican said, citing the Iraqis’ failure to pass a new oil revenue bill, hold local elections and dismantle the former Baath Party of Saddam Hussein. “It’s a growing frustration.”</em>

Lets give an eye to the checklist, shall we?

Invade sovereign nation who posed us no threat? Check.

Dismantle all existing security and governmental structures and replace with GOP loyalists and toadies? Check.

Gut the infrastructure, allow civil war to rage? Check.

Whine because these incompetent ingrates can’t funnel us, their “liberators”, oil revenues fast enough? Check.

Check and f’n appalling. This guy should be bitchslapped by an endless procession of Iraqis who have suffered losses of their family, friends and lives, all live on Faux News. But, if this is the sort of statements it takes for the GOP to give a brave face to leaving a land we should never have been in anyway, then keep yappin’ you tool. Just bring them home.
