New York-based singer-songwriter and record label owner Rachael Sage has a fine tradition of gathering up some of the best independently released music and releasing it in aid of a worthy benefit or charity, and New Arrivals Volume Three: Artists For Eating Disorders Awareness is her third such compilation.
Featuring artists as diverse as Glen Phillips, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers and Sage herself, New Arrivals Volume Three: Artists For Eating Disorders Awareness is a very diverse and listenable collection, opening with the quirky pop rock of Jay Clifford’s “Know When To Walk Away.”
The acoustic sensibilities of The Sweet Remains’ “Moving In Slow Motion” contrasts with the hypnotic pop of The Hamiltons’ “So Close,” while the rousing pop-rock strains of “Be Still” mark out Five AM as a band to keep an eye on.
Sage’s “Angel In My View” is sassy pop perfection, but the high point of a superb collection is the confessional “4th of July” by Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers – further proof, as if it were required, of Sage’s acumen when it comes to bringing top-class talent together for the greater good.
