This gun owner says WTF?
Now, first off, I’m a permit holding gun owner who truly believes in the 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms.
But this is just stupid:
Man Carrying Semi-Automatic Assault Rifle And Pistol Outside Obama Event
A man was spotted Monday afternoon carrying a semi-automatic assault rifle and a pistol at a pro-health care reform rally next to the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Arizona where President Obama was speaking.
As a concealed weapon permit holder, I’m not allowed to bring my gun into a bar, the Atlanta airport, or a school. Now while I might quibble at the limits, I understand their intent. I know that if I have my Sig P239 on while wandering a high school hallway that I’m not going to cause any trouble…but a cop doesn’t. Nor should he have to make that judgment in an instant, either.
So while I grant in theory that yes, you can bring your nice big bang bang to a public gathering, your doing so around the president causes a situation where law enforcement has to be constantly evaluating (or checking the permits of) every dingbat with a beer gut and a AK 47. Sorry, thats just stupid.
And can you imagine what would have occurred if I had shown up at a Bush rally with a gun? Ha! Those guys arrested people for wearing a critical T shirt!
