Truth to Power

RIP to a pair of musical legends

Hard week for music fans:

Folk singer Mike Seeger dies, 75

Folk musician and historian Mike Seeger has died at the age of 75.

Brother of the equally influential Peggy, Seeger founded the New Lost City Ramblers, the group credited with sparking the 60s folk boom.

Over a 50-year career, his love of traditional songs inspired many other musicians, including Bob Dylan, to trace the roots of American folk music.</em>

Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan Producer Jim Dickinson Dies

Dickinson’s career spanned four decades and saw him work with The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin and Mudhoney as well as collaborating with Ry Cooder and Bob Dylan.

He passed away from heart and intestinal problems on Saturday August 15.

Dickinson is often cited as a major influence on the Memphis sound of the 60’s and 70’s. He recorded The Rolling Stones song ‘Wild Horses’ and featured on Bob Dylan’s Grammy Award winning ‘Time Out Of Mind’. His two sons, Luther and Cody Dickinson, formed two thirds of North Mississippi Allstars</em>

They will surely be missed.
