Straight No Chaser

CD Review – Shayna and the Catch (perfect country-folk)

Lighthouse

Self-Released

Chances are you’ve already heard Shayna & the Catch. Their smooth country-pop-folk has been everywhere. Their music has been featured on CSI:NY, Mythbusters, Tosh.O, 16 & Pregnant, Swamp People, The First 48, White Collar and The Real World: New Orleans. Not to mention that “Morning Sun” is the song used in the new Ford Edge commercial. Yeah, they’ve been around. Yet, Lighthouse, just their full-length debut, sounds as if they have been around for years.

Forming in 2008, Shayna & the Catch have already shared the stage with Jakob Dylan, Neko Case, G-Love and She & Him. The lighthearted title track is perfect for fans of Norah Jones (who they have also played with). “Morning Sun” is one of those songs that you sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee on your back porch while a light breeze caresses your cheek. The upbeat acoustic track perfectly surrounds Shayna’s smooth-as-silk vocals.

Yes, this album is perfect coffee house music, but it is also music that will make you ask the barista who they are and what the album is called.
