Olive
Extra Virgin
RCA
Well, here comes another “trip hop on the bandwagon” group. Olive on surface seems like a natural to put along side your Sneaker Pimps records. But when you listen to it, they have taken the electronic trip hop sound and stripped it bare. There is no innovation on this record. The electronic music sounds absolutely amateurish when placed along side groups like Gus Gus, Ruby, or Bjork. The vocals are the best thing on the record, but they are nowhere nearly strong enough to save this project. I could now make some lame pun about “pitting an Olive,” but they don’t even rate that.
