Liberation began with the very successful Punk Sucks compilation some years ago, and this appears to be its ska sequel. This was disappointing because the bands I was excited about being on here had previously released songs (the exception being Against All Authority), and most of the bands I wasn’t already familiar with didn’t interest me very much. On the other hand, this would serve as a pretty good introduction to the ska/ska-punk scene as it is today, as it has a decent range of ska styles and some classic songs, including tracks from the Usuals, Hepcat, Less Than Jake, Let’s Go Bowling, Unsteady, The Chinkees, MU330, Link 80, Mephiskapheles, and so on. A nice “hello, how are you doing, this is some of what is considered ska,” but not essential if you already have some basic knowledge of today’s ska world. Liberation Records, P.O.
