Deicide

When Satan Lives

Roadrunner

I’m almost afraid to play this in my stereo…

It’s a live performance from Deicide somewhere in Chicago, oh, look, they play the House of Blues… It’s heavy… heavy as Hell, too. Music by, for, and about demons. They put on a mighty good show and are meticulous with their musicianship. I’d bet, like all good Satanists, they don’t drink alcohol or take drugs, accounting for their professionalism.

They played a long set, including such happy-go-lucky numbers as “Blame It on God,” “When Satan Rules His World,” “Bastard of Christ,” “Serpents of the Light,” and “Once Upon the Cross.” There’s very little band banter and, amazingly, the vocals are articulate, too articulate! Like on “Lunatic of God’s Creation” and (remember this one, Desecration?) “Dead By Dawn.” There’s plenty of cheers from the crowd, though.
