The Paper Hearts

The Paper Hearts

Clunk

With this five-track EP, The Paper Hearts have delivered a convincing argument for the return of frantic alt.country and raving storytelling. “Elijah rode his horse towards the sun/He left without a word to anyone,” goes the opening lines to “Elijah” and you know The Paper Hearts are doing something right. This is a convincing slab of country-rock delivered with a punch that’s too often missing from this music, and with two great vocalists in Michelle Selby and Todd Gill, they deliver their vivid stories of hearts lost and found in charming, personal style. Crossing the outlaw sound of an up-and-about Whiskeytown with the craftsmanship of The Posies, The Paper Hearts are worth checking out for any fan of Wilco or Willard Grant Conspiracy.
