Solid State Alone

Bent

Probably for fear of sounding like every other post-rocking Chicago act, Echolalia add a considerable dose of electro-pop and computerized “atmospherics” to the formula – and fail miserably. Anything that attempts to avoid the usual genre traps deserves praise just for trying, but Echolalia don’t take their ideas anywhere, and Solid State Alone is nothing but a series of naive sketches that throws a couple of samples on top of ludicrous bass lines in the vague hope of creating something… interesting?

As it is, this sounds like a band (understandably) tired of their city’s increasingly generic trademark sound, but too conventional to actually stick their necks out more than necessary for posterity’s sake.
