Club 8

The Friend I Once Had

March

Gentle and soothing, Club 8 seem to ease into your ears like a bather into a hot Jacuzzi. Slowly and gently, Karolina Komstedt’s Scandinavianly pure voice lowers itself into your mind, as a frothy mass of synthetic and organic instruments (mostly played by Johan Angergard) fizzily floats to the surface. Like a good long soak, Club 8 is something you just have to have every once in a while. Fans of the Magnetic Fields and other retro-synth bands will find plenty to meditate on, as will those who find pleasure in the Sundays’ ethereal pop. The opening “Everlasting Love” sounds so 1989, it’s spooky… March Records, 121 Varick Street, 12th Floor, New York, NY 10013; http://www.marchrecords.com
