Smack

Amsterdamned

I am resisting the urge to buy Wet N’ Wild makeup products.

Smack is a dirty rock n roll/sleaze metal band of Finnish cuties that I probably would have loved in high school. Songs like “Good Morning Headache,” “Through The Glass,” and “Cemetery Walls” all revive some pretty horrific memories of raccoon eyeliner, teeny skirts, and fishnets. (Just for the record, I didn’t have big hair.) Smack would have probably hated it; sprinkled throughout the libretto are quotes denouncing “those pathetic American bands with guys looking like poodles.” More quotable Smack: “… Smack had a huge influence on bands like Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, D.A.D., and Mudhoney.” Uh, sure. I guess with singer Ilari “Claude” Peltola a casualty, Smack might be nostalgic for days where metal was predominant on the airwaves, and you could get chicks by looking like one. I, for one, am so happy those days are over.
