The Burgundy Romance

The Burgundy Romance

Boxcar

The Burgundy Romance’s pedigree includes a few Florida indie rock bands past and present: Roosevelt, the Mercury Program, and Yusef’s Well. The end result of this gathering – thinking man’s instrumental hardcore with some mathy elements. Think Shellac or Slint with some Drive Like Jehu-like undertones from the second guitar.

TBR songs lull you to sleep with sweet guitars then knock you over the head with backbeat and distortion. Really cool. The vocals are sparse and mostly spoken. The first song, a full out rocker in 6/4, has especially been a repeat-listener for me. Check this out if you’re into any of the bands mentioned.
