The Hillary Step
The Second Time Means Nothing
First thought is something like country-emo. Starting out with a mellow, scenic kind of drive before crashing into the chaos of a home on the range rock star. Whispered vocals like Codeine that fade into an unstoppable beat. The desert shines through, but the angst and the stop start heartbreak push it further. Vocals twist into a sneer, and the energy is strong, but the emotion is stronger. It feels like sunset at high speed. There’s also a slight math rock element in the hidden jazz layer of the drums, but the calculations aren’t to confusing, and they still aren’t afraid to throw away all the labels and just straight out rock for a bit.
