Bluebottle Kiss

Revenge is Slow

Nonzero / In Music We Trust

Australia•s Bluebottle Kiss may reference both Coldplay and U2 on their first international release (and fourth overall), but they avoid the trappings of dull comfort and dreary routine with which those bands have come to be associated. Revenge is Slow is a more carefully considered, subtler affair altogether, with drowsy melancholic melodies generously and genuinely challenging the post-Radiohead domain of guitar-based pop music. Tracks like •Ounce of Your Cruelty• and •Hasten the Blows• are shimmering in tone and panoramic in reach, while •Prussian Blue• demonstrates their dynamic playfulness and willingness to explore ideas from different perspectives. Revenge is Slow may lose some of its momentum towards the end, but most starving pop hearts will find something to love on here.
