Things I don’t understand
Number 316 in a series: The overhyping of Tina Fey, SNL performer and head writer. I mean it’s great that she’s the first female head writer the show’s ever had and all, but it would be better if she were actually funny and could make the show so.
Instead, every time I’ve watched an ep and they get to her “Weekend Update” feature, all I’m left thinking is that it’s amazing that SNL has 10 minutes a week to fill with fake news to The Daily Show’s 30 minutes a night, monday through thursday, and The Daily Show kicks their asses all over the screen.
This mini-rant sparked by the inclusion of a Fey quote in EW’s “Sound Bites,” in which she trots out the funny, funny, and not at all tired, repetitive, or trite observation that Marcie and Peppermint Patty were sorta, kinda, you know…gay. Snicker snicker.
Tina? 1985 called. It wants its joke back…
