Truth to Power

Rummy lies (again)

According to an interview on CNN last night, Rumsfeld supposedly twice offered to resign due to the Abu Ghraib scandal.

Ok, he’s lying. After reading Seymour Hersh’s Chain of Command, you understand just how far up this stuff went. The notion that Rumsfeld would resign over a practice he condoned, helped put in place, and relied upon, is insipid. Take this statement:

“The problem is this kind of thing occurs in prisons across the country and across the world. And you have to know it’s a possibility. … The training and the discipline and the doctrine has to be such that you anticipate that risk. And clearly that wasn’t done,” Rumsfeld told King.

Lying. He’s lying. The treatment of captured “terrorists” in our prisons is going according to a precise plan, agreed upon as high up as Bush, drafted by that loathsome Gonzales, and defined as necessary by Rummy.

This entire lot needs to be impeached, imprisoned and the earth salted after they are gone. I just hope it is my lifetime.
