Fool’s Paradise

Selectric

Christian bands and artists have a habit of breaking out into the mainstream, and on the evidence of Fool’s Paradise, Monday Morning could well be the next band to follow Switchfoot’s footsteps.

Certainly, album standout “The Wonder of It All (Next Year)” has the epic quality possessed by Switchfoot hits such as “The Shadow Proves The Sunshine” and “Dare You To Move,” but don’t dismiss Monday Morning as mere clones. Fool’s Paradise has enough diversity to mark this four-piece out as serious contenders, as the punchy “Break Away,” the polished “These Eyes” and the anthemic “Can’t Go On” prove. The ballsy opener “Sunshine” and the acoustic “Desperate” further show just why Monday Morning are being tipped as the next big thing from the Christian genre to cross over.
