The Detroit Cobras
Tied And True
Bloodshot
Once again the wildly rockin’ duo of Rachel Nagy & Mary Ramirez have revitalized a collection of forgotten R&B tracks from the past and sauced them up with sex and attitude. You may not be able to place where you know the songs from, or who sang them the first time around, but after a listen or two it won’t even matter because The Detroit Cobras have made these obscure bits of the ’50s and ’60s their own.
With the help of Reigning Sound guitarist Greg Cartwright, bassist Carol Schumacher (who’s also done a touring run with the Gore Gore Girls), and drummer Kenny Tudrick, the ladies nail down bits of brilliant adaptation. “Leave My Kitten Alone” (popularized by The Beatles) and “On A Monday” (popularized by Johnny Cash) are destined to be drenched in wine and beer on upcoming Cobras tours.
