Hard rock will never die, even if the best bass players OD from time to time. Bluhauz became famous in a band called Stone Giant, and now he’s out on his own. This collection opens with all guns blazing in the blues-influenced rocker “Purify My Soul.” It’s everything you want in a rock anthem: loud, gritty, and infectious. “Whats Going On” hangs out the reverb sign, then takes a slower, lower road with the lyric “feeling underwater, trying to get out.” You just know he met a brown-eyed woman and lost his sense of place. He sings with a touch of reggae and an imminent tear in the eye of the singer. Solid blues tracks fly from this guy; “Tell My Baby” takes us to a metaphysical train station while “Keep on Rolling” rolls and rocks with energetic guitar riffs. Lastly, “Loving” feels almost as a easy listening tune, but with more guitar and actual sad lyrics. Still, it’s a power ballad with riff heavy work outs to test your speakers. This project takes me back to when I still had hair and bright dreams of the future. Power rock, power riffs, and no nonsense music here. Bring on the bud and Budwiesers!
