An A to Z Guide to Winning the War on Fun

Jimmy Failla

Fox News Books / HarperCollins

On the streets, Jimmy Failla is known as a legit “knock around guy.” And in his latest book, Cancel Culture Dictionary, the former NYC cabbie proves why he’s quickly becoming known beyond the hood as the El Jefe of the FOX News Thought Crime Syndicate.

Decidedly less filtered than when hosting his wildly popular FOX Across America afternoon radio show, Failla begins his barrage of three-pointers from Page One. In fact, the title is a smidge of a misnomer. It’s actually less of a Webster-style dictionary, and more of a Lenny-inspired encyclopedia — a riotous reminder of how “fun” was once legal and how crazy “culture” has become. Dammit, Jimmy!

Despite dishing out heaping helpings of seemingly genuine self-deprecating humor and his often questionable Gap Band groupie fashion sensibility, the popular standup comic is NO joke. Neither is the book. Failla’s hilarious, Everyman insights cut sharper than the pitchiest contestant on The Voice — resulting in an extremely well-written, exhaustively entertaining read. Dude! Gimme a sec to catch my breath, will ya?

Making a strong case that “jokes are not hate crimes,” Failla skis down the “slippery slopes of censorship,” knocking down today’s “word police,” “outrage mobs,” “cultural arsonists,” and “grievance gangs,” while also pointing out society’s recent absurdities, from the hypocrisy of Hollywood to the demise of Dr. Seuss to the abduction of the Victoria’s Secret catalog. In the words of Jesus, “the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32 NLT)

Failla’s content is far too compelling for me to compromise his cred by casting spoilers or clichés. So, I’ll refrain from mentioning how his book is a bona fide page-turner and laugh-out-loud funny. Instead, I’ll shut up and close out by simply offering a fresh endorsement that I just thought up: Jimmy Failla’s Cancel Culture Dictionary? I laughed, I cried. It’s the feel-good hit of the season!

BTW, the all-new weekly comedy show, FOX News Saturday Night with Jimmy Failla is what the kids are calling, “Must-See TV.”
