There’s an eerie feeling of “I’ve heard this before” lingering over the third record from Sweden’s The Soundtrack of Our Lives. Where their first two records contained moments of raw-edged rock, Behind The Music is a big soup of influences, most notably Pink Floyd (I swear “In Someone Else’s Mind” is an outtake from Dark Side Of The Moon), The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Radiohead. Which doesn’t make for a bad listen – enjoyable enough, but not groundbreaking. Perhaps the band felt the need to pander a bit to America, seeing that this is their first record to be released here, but for whatever reason, they should have stayed dancing with the one that brought ‘em, as we say. Here’s hoping the next record from TSOOL sticks to their strengths.
