Patrick Krief

EP

Self-Released

The Dears’ most dynamic live element, guitarist Patrick Krief, is putting himself out there in the form of a solo artist. The EP, to be released on Feb. 20th, will feature Krief on guitar, vocals, bass, drums, piano, keys, percussion, and –oh yeah– he wrote, composed and produced it himself as well. Overachiever!

Krief was obviously weened on the masters of the pop song, The Beatles. He writes these warm compositions that sound, upon first listen, like you’ve heard them before. And his voice! It’s surprising that he’s waited as long as he has to step up to the mic! This is not a guitarist with an overblown ego who thinks he can carry a band on his own, this is a musician evolving. With The Dears he is the master behind the fret board who electrifies Murray Lightburn’s otherwise mellow melodies, but with this project he has unplugged and found energy in the quietness.

The songs may not be a drastic break from the music he’s been making with his full-time band, but his voice gives the pretty tunes a soulful depth that stands apart from The Dears as their own entity entirely.

If for no other reason, this album was a must to be made for the simple fact that “We’re All Whores” is a song too good to go unheard.
